Terms of Service
In plain terms. Weka is free. Use it for legitimate work. Don't use it to spam people. It depends on WhatsApp Web, which we don't control, so we can't promise it will never break.
1. Agreement
By installing or using the Weka browser extension or this website, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Weka. Weka is an independent project, not a company.
2. What Weka is
Weka is a browser extension that adds organisational features to WhatsApp Web. It is an independent product with no affiliation to WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc. WhatsApp is their trademark. Your use of WhatsApp itself remains governed by WhatsApp's own terms, and you are responsible for complying with them.
3. Cost
Weka is currently free to use, with all features available to all users. If we introduce paid features in future, we will give clear notice in advance and will not retroactively charge for what you are using today.
4. Your account
You need an account to sync your data across devices. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure, and for the accuracy of the information you give us. You must be at least 16 years old to use Weka.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Weka to:
- send unsolicited bulk messages, spam, or anything recipients have not agreed to receive;
- harass, defraud, impersonate, or mislead anyone;
- violate WhatsApp's terms of service or any applicable law, including marketing and data protection rules in your country;
- break, probe or circumvent the security of Weka or the systems it runs on;
- resell or redistribute Weka as your own product.
The broadcast feature deserves particular care. Messaging many people at once can breach WhatsApp's rules and can get your number restricted or banned by WhatsApp. That consequence sits with you, not with us. Use it to reach people who expect to hear from you.
We may suspend accounts that breach these rules.
6. Your content
The notes, tabs, templates and messages you create remain yours. You grant us only the permission needed to store and display them back to you. We do not use your content to train models or for any purpose other than running Weka. Our privacy policy explains how it is handled.
7. Availability, and the honest caveat
Weka works by interoperating with WhatsApp Web, which is operated by someone else and changes without notice. When it changes, parts of Weka can stop working until we adapt. We fix these as quickly as we reasonably can, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service, and we may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we were to discontinue Weka entirely, we would give notice and a way to export what you've created.
8. No warranty
Weka is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that it will be error-free or uninterrupted.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, for lost profits or business, or for any restriction WhatsApp places on your account arising from your use of Weka. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
10. Ending it
You can stop using Weka at any time by uninstalling the extension, and can ask us to delete your account as described in the privacy policy. We may terminate accounts that breach section 5.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. For material changes we will give notice before they take effect. Continuing to use Weka afterwards means you accept the updated terms.
12. Your local rights
Nothing in these terms takes away any consumer rights you have under the laws where you live.
